Fantage is ending.
After just 10 big years. To me, it’s been a truly amazing thing. Today, June 26th 2018, I have literally been playing Fantage for exactly half my life. You could say it’s been a significant part of my life. It’s always just been there. I’m not sure why I was so captivated by Fantage. Or really why I stuck with it the whole time. I guess it got to a point where it was just pure stubbornness to see it out (and a few good friends along the way). I like completion, and now it’s complete 😐
Fantage’s closure was inevitable, I’d been predicting each year since 2014 that it would be Fantage’s “last year”, turns out this year (just 4 years off) I was right. The writing had been on the wall for Fantage for a long time now. Player numbers show that Fantage peaked in August 2011. There were a lot of little indications. Events became very repetitive, they stopped updating the reporter assignments, they stopped making missions, they released a “dabtastic” event, they stopped updating the Comet Newsletter, friendship bracelets broke, I could go on and on, but that’s not really what this is about. I would note that I don’t think Fantage employees can be held accountable for all these things, it was much bigger than that. I won’t even discuss Trade’n’Sell or MyMall because everyone else has (including me in this post), but it almost certainly irreversibly changed the community and the way Fantage was played. Unfortunately, Fantage wasn’t always perfect.
Despite this, Fantage benefited me, and so many of its other players. People met amazing friends, often friendships which extended outside of Fantage, many of which will long outlive Fantage.
Others used Fantage as an escape. I’ve heard many stories of Fantage providing happiness, community, and belonging, particularly for people who were having a tough time in their real life.
So many people were inspired by and used Fantage as a creative outlet. Ever since the beginning, Fantagians have been writing blogs, creating art, making music videos, animations and more. Fantage has nurtured hobbies and interests, some of which have even turned into careers. I think all of this is something really special that should be remembered, regardless of anything else that happened with Fantage.
I’d like to thank everybody who made Fantage everything that it was. The owners, the employees, the people who played the beta, all the players who were the community, the people who bought premium membership, the bloggers, the YouTubers, the Instagrammers, the artists, my buddies, my close friends, Fantagians.
Thank you all for a wonderful decade and a Fantastic Age 🙂

Amazing post! Really enjoyed reading it. My favourite memory would honestly be just talking to friends online, making new friends, and just hanging out for hours playing. Again, amazing blog post.
good luck on this adventure you call life:)

Fantage definitely helped me keep my mind off things in real life. It introduced me to a new community, and I met lots of new friends along the way. It was pretty much and escape from reality, since I didn’t have many friends irl during 2012-2014.
I stopped playing because the events got too repetitive, there was less to do, and I couldn’t load anyone’s IDFone (I kept see ‘Lotusrainxoxo’). The lag slowly started to worsen as the years went by (or maybe my computer just sucks).
I’ll definitely remember all the bloggers I’ve met over the years, and all the fun times we shared. It feels like an honor to have met and/or worked with some of these people. I hope that I’ll talk to them all again some day.

well, let’s see here. I played fantage for a good portion of my life. I recently went back on this year mind you I’m/I was a freshman in college (how embarrassing.) I would go on there from time to time this year to see the new features and how things have changed since I was on like trade n’ sell was gone, the vintage shop was gone as well, a bot was added to give items etc. I went back on to seek out a couple items I’ve always wanted to own but never got a chance to like Pb hat and chalkboard for example haha. Sadly I discovered most of the items I worked hard to get or owned we’re pretty much available openly not that it matters. When I decided to log-in again I noticed that fantage was having another event only to find out it was a good-bye event. I had mixed emotions tbh regardless of me not playing a lot when I decided to revisit my childhood game. I will never forget the friends I had made on fantage when I was very active, all the fun parties I threw, the movie try-outs and my Instagram that was dedicated to fantage. I don’t mean to sound cocky but I was quite popular in a way with the people there when I was on fantage very frequently. Fantage was fun. There was something about its simplicity that captivated me. To be honest when I logged back in this year after so many years of not playing I was shocked to see how much had changed as well as the types of people playing fantage and I was also shocked to see that even though many new features were added many things were still out-dated and existed when I was more active years ago. I absolutely hated the new gold feature as well it was like real life economics to me, I was so rich in e-coins and stars but they weren’t worth anything (well… the stars were still somewhat useful.) Anyways, I suppose my favorite part about fantage was playing fashion show, making new friends and especially decorating my room as a water park etc. I was always that fantagian that was there for others. If anyone recognizes the username Storm1002 that was me. So long fellow fantagians maybe in the future we will see an unofficial remake of fantage like they did with vmk and clubpenguin.

Fantage has been around for most of my life. Several other virtual worlds have closed, like Club Penguin, but it never occurred to me that Fantage will close. I will really miss Fantage. All the friends, parties, and games were really fun my whole life. I wish it never closed.

After playing this game for 4 years (I joined in 2014, April 23), I have grown a love for the Fantage community. I love Fantage, and have missed it. I guess I understand why they closed it down after 10 years of being up for the public.. but it honestly sucks so much.
Fantage was a large part of my childhood that I played for hours at a time.
I stayed up until 3:00am every weekend playing that game, making ‘movies’ and ‘families’, & lets not forget about those fashion shows.. I mean..
Another thing that made me upset about loosing Fantage, was everything that came with it. Loosing the photos, the friends, the clothes, the hair.. everything. We all know the drama though. The hackers and ofc the scammers. I was personally scammed for a bunch of items, that I had cried over for many, MANY hours.
I had DREAMS about having a Fantage rare account.
I love you Fantage, I will always love you.
Here’s to 10 years of Fantage!

I honestly feel upset. I had started playing Fantage two years after it released, and I loved it from the bottom of my heart! It breaks my heart to know that it’s gone and the worst part is- I wasn’t there in it’s last month. So many memories just left as things of the past and if I could, then I would love to go back for one last time and see my account and home once more.
