This is great news! No more scamming! So now you can only sell in My Mall if you are a Premium Member. What does that mean?
It means NO MORE SCAMMING and NO more MINING, HACKING or transferring items, unless of course you want to pay for a membership. I’m pretty sure all of you know 1 if not 2 or more people who got scammed or hacked. It’s not fun or nice. So I guess we can thank all the scammers that used nonmembers as alternates.

Okay, you’ve edited this post since I commented, so here are my thoughts now. I’m even going to use proper paragraph breaks for these since they’re so long! 😮
Disclaimer: Yes, I am currently a member. Some of your points are kind of true, like how members don’t have as many exclusive benefits as they used to. However, I think that’s actually a good thing, since it encourages more people to get into Fantage. People WILL still buy membership if they really want it…

MyMall already gave members an advantage. As a member, you could use the search function, get permission for half the price nonmembers had to pay (which really does add up if you constantly have a kiosk open), and, most importantly, buy and wear starred items. If you didn’t have a member friend who you could ask to look things up for you, you basically had to go through the rooms one by one, hoping someone would sell what you were looking for. And that that thing would be coined. And that you could afford it… Oh, and don’t forget that you’d still need 300 Gold for permission afterwards! So you had to be smart with your Gold.

And starred vs. coined items… You didn’t mention it in your post, but there’s a pretty big difference. Nonmembers can only wear coined items (and starred items for everyone, but MyMall has never made the distinction between those and PM-exclusive items). As a result, the average price for coined items can end up being much, much higher than the average price for the same starred items.
Sure, maybe some of these wouldn’t seem as huge of deals to someone who’s always been a member during the time MyMall has been around, but if you’re ever a nonmember, well… Even before all of this kiosk nonsense happened, there were still a lot of things that members (including myself) probably take for granted that nonmembers just didn’t have.

Something else I don’t get about your viewpoint… Fantage profits just as much from people buying Gold from them as they do from people buying membership. And no, letting nonmembers make Gold from their items is not going to make Fantage lose money. When you’re starting out, you’re not going to have a lot of items to sell at MyMall, and the items you will have won’t sell for much. They certainly won’t sell for enough Gold to equal the amount you’d get by just, y’know, buying Gold from Fantage. People interested enough in Fantage will get desperate, for lack of a better term, and buy the Gold. I’ve seen it happen.

Finally, this is just not a good way to prevent scamming. Raising the minimum prices of POPULAR items would prevent scamming (and Fantage did sort of do this, just not in a very useful way). Replacing MyMall with a system that allowed FAIR trading that BOTH parties had to agree to at the same time would prevent scamming. (Bearville and Gaia both had/have this, and the only way you could/can get scammed with this method would be if you traded more than a certain amount of items at once or if you traded items for something like gift cards, which would technically be illegal, anyway.) This? This is not going to prevent scamming, but it IS going to alienate a ton of people who go on Fantage.

And I don’t agree with your statement about how scammers won’t scam anymore, because the sad fact is that a lot of them aren’t going to care about that. Also, not all scammers are nonmembers, and not all nonmembers are scammers who never buy Gold. Just something to keep in mind. 😛

I’m pretty sure this was done because of the scamming. Fantage got really tired of it and looked at the perpetrators and found that the highest incidence came from nons not necessarily players but ppl using alternates. As for the trading option it would not reduce scamming because ppl give out their pass and that messes up everything. As for trading systems on other games. Were those games flash based??? I doubt Fantage will come up with a trading system as this has been mentioned before. Also as a member I rly never used my mall so I wouldnt know these things. I am sure the search fee has been removed. So as I see it nons can still buy items. As for the prices you can just blame the greedy players. I am guessing my mall sales will drop significantly. I never really understood why ppl spent so much time there anyhow

Okay, some people scam, and on their scamming accounts, they just so happen to be nonmembers. So that means Fantage should take away MyMall for all nonmembers, even the ones who wouldn’t scam a fly?

Speaking from my six and a half years’ worth of experience there, people on Bearville did not generally give out their passwords for trading-related reasons. The only times they got scammed were if they did not know the worth of an item, they made the incredibly stupid promise to trade a bunch of their items for an item they’d be receiving in another trade, or they traded items for real currency, which is illegal. All of these are easily preventable, and since Fantage actually seems to sort of know the rarity of its own items, the developers could just add in a bar or something measuring how fair the trade is for each party (and knowing them, they’d probably prevent you from making trades that weren’t 100% fair for both sides). Bearville had one, though it was admittedly ineffective and based itself off of how much you could resell the item for. Gaia displays the current Marketplace value of each item when you click on it, and I think there’s something on the trade screen that lists the total worth of what you’re trading. Really, at this point, having a trading system like this would be much better than having MyMall. If you spend so much time telling people NOT to do a specific thing instead of allowing that thing while taking effective measures to prevent scamming, people ARE going to do the thing. (And to answer your question, yes, Bearville was a Flash game. Gaia Online is a website, not really a virtual world, and I’m not sure whether the trading part of the site uses Flash or HTML5. But this kind of thing CAN be done on Flash games.)

I guess the search fee has been removed for the weekend seeing as all users are Premium Members, but I really don’t think they’d remove it for good. That’s just not what Fantage does. And sure, they can technically still buy items, but a lot of them just aren’t going to bother at all.

Just because you don’t visit MyMall regularly doesn’t mean nobody else does… A lot of Fantagians are there daily, and there are still ones who aren’t but have kiosks there 24/7. And many of these people just so happen to be nonmembers. Yes, MyMall sales will drop significantly if Fantage doesn’t change things back… Which means Fantage will be losing a lot of paying customers who buy Gold to afford things at MyMall. Really, like I said, it feels like they’re actively trying to close themselves down here. If they want to prevent scamming, there are other, more effective ways they can do that. Just…not this.

If you actually got hacked or scammed IT’S YOUR FAULT! Stop giving info away, and stop falling for scams. Be smarter.
If you got hacked because of another circumstance (hack clients, or someone guessed your password) that’s another case. but if you got hacked cos you gave away your info, ITS YOUR FAULT!

I totally agree with you on this. As a business, Fantage needs to make profits and make ends meet. To pay for membership and receive nothing for the extra $7.95 is completely useless, ultimately causing them to lose money. People who call this “greedy” are too arrogant to look beyond their own point of view that in the economy everything is about money, and if Fantage wasn’t making money, they were losing money.

I feel like Fantage is trying to make the nons happier by giving them a weekend of free membership because I bet Fantage has been getting a ton of complaints about how nons have limited access to things, but I’ve been playing for quite a while, and back in the ol’ days, nons didn’t even have as many privileges as they do now, so people these days are just getting greedier and greedier. (and probably someday nons will have access to the exact things that members are paying for)

tbh I completely understand and agree. Yes, fantage employees need money, but i personally don’t think this is a way to do it. Some people on fantage, they make gold buy working hard (not saying that members don’t), and selling their items so they can have a chance to have gold and know what it is like to be in power to buy any item they like. Me for one, I work hard to get gum, so i can sell since my parents won’t let me get membership. I feel like fantage doesn’t understand they will likely lose money rather than make because most people are done with this “injustice” (sorry i don’t have any other way to say this). I remember the old days, if non members wanted to buy limited items, they had to use ecoins. To me, that wasn’t really a big deal considering fantage kept the prices reasonable and you were able to earn ecoins by watching videos or i think doing tasks with their app (i don’t really remember oops). When i look at fatnage now, i see how much it has changed. Rather then being able to earn gold, you have to buy (i think) and the prices has gone up by um, by a lot. I feel like each time fantage changes something, potential buyers of their product decide to quit. I cry for the future of fantage tbh. I can imagine in a few years, limited items will be 30K rather than 4K and non members will pretty much have no reason to log on anymore. Oh and also, I don’t think this is about the skamming problem considering it is not ONLY non members who scam. Sorry this rant makes no sense i just have a lot to say lmao. Okay so coming from a member and a non-member point of view. I have to partially agree with both sides to the argument. Yes, Fantage NEEDS to make money just like any other business. However, I feel like I’m going through some deja vu crap currently because of this change. Before I came onto Fantage, I played Pixie Hollow. And I invested too much time and money into that game. PH started only caring about making money and forgetting about the members and nons as well. You know what? They got shut down because of the money they lost from people quitting. I feel like Fantage will shut down because of the recent “update”. I checked recently and now membership for one month is only $3.99! That’s so cheap! I guess they must be struggling making money because of how many members canceled their membership. For example, I canceled mine last month because it was pointless. All the benefits members had, I didn’t care for. The PM boutique is plain stupid, because members can just buy the items in le shop with stars. I think if Fantage put the “popular” items in the boutique, they would attract more costumers. Gia, you have all the items so why would you feel the need to go into mymall? I feel like some people are so crazy for just pixels. I guess now since I’m older and have my own money, not my parents. I find it pointless for me to spend money on pixels. But hey its your money, do what you want with it.

Tbh i’m actually really annoyed, not every non member is a scammer and so many people are now quiting. Its not fair at all, you have to be a non member for all your life on fantage to understand that. Not all of us can but gold or membership and now fantage has become all about money. When i first started playing fantage it was fun, everything was equal and i loved playing it, throughout the years i understand how much fantage has changed and honeslty no one likes it. A premium member wont understand a non member, its as simple as that. Yes premium members pay money to get all those benefits but now its even boring for non members cause now they can only buy stuff from stella and le shops(and half the things you need ecoins too get). Tbh what is the point of playing fantage anymore, not that there is much to play and do anymore. Fantage has changed and many people hate it. All non members that used to always play fantage and always used to go to mymall and keep themselves entertained have lost that privalige unless you spend real money. <- no one likes it. i honestly don’t believe that taking away a non’s privilege to sell items on fantage isn’t right. im not trying to start an argument but i am truly just stating in what i believe in. by taking away a non’s privilege to sell items, that means they could not earn any gold unless they buy it. but the thing that some people don’t understand is that, some of the people who play fantage’s parents are extremely strict and they do not want their kids to spend real life money on a virtual game. in my opinion, fantage is basically saying, one must pay to get the full benefits of this game. also, by doing this, fantage is allowing the premium members to get all the benefits even though they already have a lot such as: two times the amount of the stars when playing a game, 50% off on the permission, the monthly gift and much more. I just feel like fantage is going to lose a lot of people because of these change in rules.

This was not the right move… They could’ve atleast given us a refund like in trade n sell. So what would I be able to do with my leftover 2,000 and my parents who would never ever spend money on a virtual game. I would have to wait for free membership weeks and that, this is so unfair and the wrong way to bribe us into buying membership to get the “full package”. Trade n sell was a mistake, they should’ve known since “scammers” existed then, if they did want to stop scamming from persisiting they would have known to not open a MyMall. This just shows that they were maining adding this new rule for money. I understand that the employees need to get paid and Fantage isn’t making much profit these days but this was not the right thing to deal with the scamming. Instead, they should’ve made trading available for both currencys which would probably get more support than this new rule. In my opinion, everything was a mistake and they should’ve kept it like the “old” fantage where they were not suffering from economic issues with having more servers. The word “worth” would not even exist in the world of Fantage but until now all you see in Fantage is Gold Gold Gold. I am quite angry, there is a clear division between the nons and members I really do see it now. There used to be more priviliges for nons to balance the equality between them but now they are starting to take it all out gradually. I wonder what will happen to the non members a few years later. Where would we even stand? And clearly we have to purchase membership to enjoy the game fully. This is just my opinion, not intended to offend or go against anyone.

Well I suggest that they should make trading available once agian but allowing two currencies to be traded vice-versa and forwarding stricter rules for example banning permanently all the accounts within your i.p address once you scam. That way, scamming would most likely be put to a stop and make trading happy for everyone.

I can see both points of views. Honestly, I understand that Fantage is a business and needs money, but removing access for nons to buy permissions, I think, is a little extreme because some people just aren’t allowed to buy things with real money and relied on selling items to earn gold. On the other hand, it encourages people to buy membership… although that leads back to people simply not being allowed to buy stuff (Fantage was intended for kids, so it’s likely all the money situations go to the parents, of which some don’t want their kids to “waste” money on a game). I’m glad that nons can still get permissions from Lucky Bot and possibly daily attendance, but the removed feature is a bit complicated… and I think there could have been a better way to give members privileges. I play Fantage for the games and fun, so this whole thing doesn’t really upset me, but I do think that because many people will be upset with this update, it ruins the enjoyable atmosphere to the point where all you see are protests and the like. Even though most scammers were nons, I honestly think the best solution would have been to create a system that makes it impossible to scam, because it isn’t very fair to punish everyone for a handful of “wrongdoers”. Well, that’s that, I’m not really for this update, but I’m not strongly against it, either… main opinion is that I think there could’ve been a better solution.

I’ve been a loyal player of fantage since like, I don’t know maybe 2008? 2009? (that is right I am 17 and I still love fantage) I remember way back when all of my friends were obsessed with club penguin and I tried it out but as a non member on club penguin there was absolutely nothing to do so my use of that as a means to hang out with my friends only lasted about a week. This disappointment led me to find fantage. I immediately told my friends about fantage which offered benefits for premiums but also left room for non members to at least almost reach the same status (it was just easier for premium members to get cool things and level up). When fantage first introduced ecoins I was so excited because there was finally a way for me to attain premium member items (something I needed if I ever wanted to even have a chance at winning a fashion show) When mymall was introduced I was even happier. This option allowed me to sell all of the premium member items I had in my inventory that I couldn’t use and were annoying me (after all i’ve never been a member so if I earned them and couldn’t wear them at least I could get something out of it) Despite not being about to sell more than three items at a time, not being able to use the search, and having to pay more for a permission, my mall was still a step in the right direction for non members. Remember that without being able to get gold from my mall, the only way for nonmembers to get limited/event inspired items and anything in mymall, is by paying real money to buy gold (something not everyone is privileged to be able to do) not allowing non members to take part in mymall is completely unreasonable (we already cant use pm boutique). In addition, fantage TOOK AWAY these abilities for non members. I had just bought up a bunch of stuff from mymall that i planned on reselling to try and get some more gold so that could purchase some of the limited items but now that i cant use mymall, I wasted all of the gold i had in the first place for things i cant even wear. Fantage didn’t even give a warning about this change. I am extremely disappointed and like many of my other non member friends, we probably arent going to be using fantage very much anymore cause after all why play if you cant buy anything? Looks like I didnt have to grow too old for fantage because fantage already grew too old for me…

I’m not seeing how Fantage changed for you since you joined that made you like it in the first place. But I guess its not quite fair although they changed it cuz of the scammers soz

This doesn’t get rid of scams. PMs scam people as well, it’s not just nonmembers. Everyone i know who was scammed got scammed by PMs who DID NOT have nonmember alternative. All they did was say they were gonna pay them back later.
I also think: If you get scammed, it’s your own fault. You should be smart enough not to fall for scams. Its because of YOUR IDIOCY that nonmembers can’t sell anymore. Well guess what, scams will still happen. NOT only that, because Fantage makes it where only PMs can do a lot of I predict they will stop making money because less people will play the game thus less people will be interested in buying membership. You know what happens when a game like Fantage stops making money? They shut down, and the game becomes a memory.
In a few years, your membership on Fantage won’t mean a thing.

This is why I quit Fantage, I only got back on because I was bored.
Fantage thinks that making everything for PMs only will give them more money, but they lose money. The nonmembers who never paid still wont wanna pay for membership AND NOW they wont even buy gold. The current PMs will grow sick and tired of Fantage (cos let’s face it, theres almost nothing to do on a game for kids) and they will stop paying.
Fantage is only losing money by doing this.
And scams won’t stop. Members scam just as much as nonmembers do. It’s human nature. Some people are horrible, and that wont ever go away.

Transferring items should not completely be against the rules. Let’s say you have multiple accounts, and as you keep getting daily rewards one of your accounts has more ecoins than the other. You want an item that costs ecoins so you buy it on the account that has them… you still earned the item fair-and-square. So you should be allowed to transfer that item to another account.
For people who scam, and then transfer the items… (I have made a statement before saying IT IS YOUR FAULT IF YOU GET SCAMMED) this wont change just because only PMs can buy permission.
Here is a scenario:
Two PMs bought permission. One PM scams the other and takes an item of theirs for super cheap saying they will pay them back. The scammer puts the item in their kiosk AND BUYS IT WITH ANOTHER ACCOUNT so the person who got scammed can never find them. The transferring still happens. The scammer will still have the item.

Fantage is going through a loop.
Old Fantage (from the beginning to about 2014): Non mems couldnt buy anything unless it was with stars, and could not even ear ecoins. Only PMs got ecoins to buy items.
2015 Fantage: Non members had limited benefits but it was somewhat fair, and PMs had more benefits. completely fair.
Now: Nons have absolutely no reason to play, and PMs gloat even though they are wasting IRL money on a stupid kids game.
Nons still wont pay for memberships, Pms will move on from Fantage and stop paying as well. This doesn’t bode well.

i feel like the changes are absolutely stupid. yes i understand no scamming but the fact that not everyone can afford membership is unfair. Its like fantage is punishing non members who cant afford a membership. Its not fair maybe they should have just took away mymall instead of being mean to non members. Im not trying to be mean but fantage is loosing business instead of gaining. Eventually everyone is gonna quit because fantage only wants money and dosent care about anyone else. ://

I cannot think of ne online game that does not require using money. Fantage lowered the cost of membership to 3.99 and that is super cheap. Please point to another game that gives nons the same benefits that members get and explain how it is fair to the members that pay. I mean nons do not pay to play so how and what is Fantage losing?

Maybe Fantage could’ve allowed selling only past a specific level? Because almost all of the scammers are new accounts who are most likely on a low level…
